Our last day in Japan:(
Hi all, sorry I haven:t updated the blog in a while but we have been so busy with Hiroshima, Mt Kongo, the sports day and national holiday.
Well it is nearly time to say goodbye to Japan. We had our farewell with the host families yesterday and it was such a great day, lots of tears, but so many new friendships formed.
Hioshima was so touching and we met a free tour guide who was a survivor of the atomic bomb in 1945, so we learnt so much.
Karoke that night was so much fun, many tunes were delivered and even some actions when it came to Grease!
There are many photos of cars from the Mazda factory!
Mt Kongo was great, we made udon noodles and then ate them for lunch, we even used our feet in the process!
The sports day had to be held inside as it had rained the previous night, but there was so much fun, even if we did miss Mr Tonkin running in the relay as it was cancelled.
Our students did a great performance at the school farewell party.
Sunday, the students spent with their families and there was a lot experienced.
Last night saw the final packing, there is a lot of stuff! We even weighed our lugguage – not so sure about the 20kg limit! There is still so much shopping today before we leave.
The students are having breakfast at the moment before the final packing.
There are a lot of new games the kids have learnt for the plane trip, so there should be something to do to fill in the time.
I can:t believe how fast the time has gone. For those meeting us at the airport we will see you tomorrow once we are throught customs, otherwise we will see you back at WSc.
Thankyou for your contributions! Once again we apologise for the little time we had to write on this and for not putting many pictures up. However, I hope what we did write and upload, gave you an idea of what we were doing over here.
See you tomorrow

Greetings from Osaka – Day 2
Konnichiwa!
Arrived safely in Japan. We had a great flight, we were looked after very well and had lots to eat. There was a little sleep on the plane but it was very hard for everyone to get comfortable and there was fantastic entertainment (movies, games…..) As soon as we landed, we could feel the humidity.
The students odered their first meal at Maccas. It does taste different to ours (some of it).
Our welcome was amazing! A big line of teachers as the bus drove in, they were all so happy to see us and waving! We even had signs at the airport.
Our accommodation at the school was good, we were all looked after really well. We slept with rice pillows ^ interesting!
Students were getting nervous about meeting their families. All slept really well, didnt want to get up.
The weather is extremely hot! Lots of water being drank.
The welcome ceremony was amazing, treated like royalty and the students introduced themselves so well. We are veyr proud of them. They have leant some Japanese, history and are now eating their lunch – it is provided by the school and the meals are huge, soup, rice, spring roll, two dishes, very filling.
The students were so excited when they saw their students, the nerves soon went away.
This afternoon students will meet their families for the first time in a welcome ceremony.
Thanks for the contributions, great and will pass them on. Sorry for the no apostrophes, I can:t find it on the computer.
As I write this, Riley is playing soccer with the students , I can see from the window. Lots of photos have been taken and video footage. I hope to try and get some pics up in the next few days on FLICKR, see how I go.
Take care

Hi to all! Wow! To think that this time next week, we will be in Japan, very exciting. I have been having a bit of a play on a website www.flickr.com I should be able to upload pics from the trip as we go. To the parents who have already contributed to the blog, I have sent you an invite, you must be classified as either my family/friend to see it, general public cannot. Therefore I need to invite you. What you will need to do is click on the email invitation I sent you and then generate an account with Flickr, you will need to also generate a yahoo email address but it will take you through that. If you haven’t yet contributed, I encourage you to do so, so I can invite you to join Flickr.
Give me a bell if you have any questions. Otherwise will see you at the airport!

With less than 5 weeks until WSC makes it way to Osaka for the Japanese 2008 trip, there is so much to think about. This is definitely a lifetime experience and all attending will explore the culture, language and adventure of what this trip has to offer.
